Brighton Marathon April 15th 2012
Firstly a big 'thank you' to our runners for 2010 and 2011 and all those who supported them. It was a great success all round, for Leo House, Brighton Marathon and Brighton itself.
Just two Brighton Marathons behind us and the Olympic year now upon us - these are exciting times for running in the oh-so-energised city of Brighton & Hove and in the UK generally. This year will be quite some year! The 2012 edition of the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 15th April will be significantly bigger than either of the two previous editions.
18,000 entries have been accepted, which is a 20% increase on the numbers for Brighton Marathon 2011. This puts the Brighton Marathon into the top 12 running events across the UK. Something we are very proud of after just two years and it is one of just six races to have been awarded an IAAF Road Race Label of any colour.
Enrtries for the 2012 Brighton Marathon are now closed however we may still have places for 2012 (or if you want to enquire about 2013) please contact us for more information. In this case we are asking people to raise at least £500 for us, and remember 98p in every pound goes directly to helping the children we look after.
If you would like to sponsor any of our runners, please email us

Trevor Martin
"the reason I requested to run for Leo House was because the money will help children and their parents who are local. The plight of having a sick child must be difficult for all concerned and I wanted to make some small contribution. Raising money for such a fantastic cause will be an inspration over the last few miles on race day"

Des Fitzpatrick
"I have thought about running a marathon for a long time but never previously done anything about it. When I found out about the fantastic work that Leo House do and saw that I could help by running the Brighton Marathon to rasie money for them I decided its about time I stopped thinking about running it and actually doing some thing about it"
This is Des' second time for us as well

Jan Hitam
Jan is a keen golfer but hasn't done any serious running for many years. He practices his running by running between shots on the golf course! Amazingly he will be 74 by the time of the marathom. Over the past 14 years he has suffered from cancer and wants to make an effort to help other who are not well.
Jan is another of our runners from 2011
If you have already entered the marathon and would still like to rasie money for Leo House please do get in contact via our info email address.
The 2012 course will take in the best parts of the city centre and fabulous stretches of coastal road, including panoramic views that you’d expect where the glorious South Downs meet the English Channel.
Generally, the course will be fast, held exclusively on roads and tarmac promenade. The entire route will be free of traffic and where necessary, there will of course be barriers and/or tape separating runners from pedestrians, street furniture and other potential hazards.
Of course there will some undulations in the route, principally in the first half of the race, while the second half will be very flat. The Finish is in Madeira Drive, just east of the famous Brighton Pier. The last mile being along the seafront road alongside thousands of cheering spectators.
