Brighton Marathons 2010/11
The race route takes in the best of the city centre and fabulous stretches of coastal road, including panoramic views that you’d expect where the glorious South Downs meet the English Channel.
Generally, it has been a fast course, held exclusively on roads and tarmac promenade. The entire route was free of traffic and where necessary, there were barriers and/or tape separating runners from pedestrians, street furniture and other potential hazards.
Of course there were some undulations in the route, principally in the first half of the race, while the second half - good news this for entrants - was very flat. The Finish is in Madeira Drive, just east of the famous Brighton Pier. The last mile in particular was along the seafront road alongside thousands of cheering spectators.
